Thryv Holdings Inc. (THRY) officially launched its AI-native Thryv Growth Platform on August 3, marking a definitive strategic pivot toward local business growth during its Q2 2026 earnings call. CEO Joe Walsh confirmed that the company is streamlining its operations, phasing out legacy directory businesses and peripheral software to concentrate exclusively on the new platform’s expansion and ecosystem-led growth.
Stabilizing the Product and Market Strategy
Addressing concerns regarding frequent operational adjustments, CEO Joe Walsh emphasized that the launch of the AI-native Thryv Growth Platform represents a sharpened, long-term focus. The company expects the momentum seen in the Marketing Center and its associated add-ons to serve as the primary narrative for the coming quarters, as legacy initiatives are systematically phased out.
Financial Health and Debt Management
Despite lowered EBITDA guidance, CFO Paul Rouse reassured investors that Thryv’s cash flow remains robust. The company maintains full capacity to service its debt through the remainder of the year and into the next. Management is prioritizing the reduction of its revolver, supported by ongoing restructuring efforts designed to bolster overall cash flow efficiency.
Ecosystem-Led Growth and Strategic Partnerships
Thryv is doubling down on an "ecosystem-led growth" model, exemplified by recent partnerships with Wix and Ooma. According to Walsh, these collaborations are designed to plug into complementary services, allowing Thryv to integrate seamlessly with other tools like CRMs and VoIP. The company expects to announce additional partnerships to accelerate growth and improve margins.
Restructuring and Workforce Efficiency
Cameron Lessard, SVP of Corporate Development and Strategy, provided clarity on the company’s $25 million restructuring charge. The costs are divided equally between workforce reductions and vendor spending efficiencies. These charges are slated to be distributed evenly across fiscal 2026 and the first half of 2027.
Driving ARPU Through AI Integration
President Grant Freeman highlighted that the platform’s native AI features are critical to proving value to customers. By generating AI-suggested actions, the software creates organic up-sell and cross-sell opportunities. This shift is expected to drive higher Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) and stabilize the software base, as the company increasingly attracts higher-quality, stickier clients.
Navigating a Commoditized CRM Market
Addressing the competitive landscape, CEO Joe Walsh noted that generic CRM offerings are becoming commoditized. In response, Thryv is moving away from basic CRM functions to focus on its "Market, Sell, Grow" initiative. This strategy has already delivered 12 consecutive quarters of double-digit growth, allowing the firm to move upmarket toward larger, more profitable clients.
Go-to-Market: From Direct Sales to Greenfield Opportunities
Thryv is diversifying its distribution through two distinct vectors. President Grant Freeman explained that while the direct sales force utilizes precision targeting and deep integrations (such as Jobber) to convert accounts, the new platform also enables a free-trial motion. This allows for easier distribution through partner ecosystems like Wix, reducing the reliance on direct sales interactions and opening access to new, pre-qualified business owners.
Transforming Conversion with Free Trials
The introduction of a full free trial on the new Growth Platform marks a significant shift from previous strategies. Freeman noted that this allows salespeople to leave prospects with a functional product rather than a presentation. By demonstrating value during the trial period, the company expects to see improved conversion rates and a more efficient inbound sales funnel.
