Parker-Hannifin (NYSE:PH) shattered financial records in fiscal 2026, surpassing $20 billion in annual sales for the first time and delivering an 18% increase in adjusted earnings per share (EPS) as the company sets its sights on further growth for 2027.
A Year of Unprecedented Financial Milestones
Chairman and CEO Jennifer Parmentier confirmed that total sales reached $21.5 billion, fueled by an accelerating organic growth rate of 6.6%. The company’s efficiency also hit new highs, with adjusted segment operating margins expanding by 120 basis points to reach a record 27.3%. Adjusted EPS climbed to $32.31, while operating cash flow surged past the $4 billion mark for the first time, landing at $4.4 billion. Beyond the financial gains, the company achieved its safest year on record, with a 9% reduction in its recordable incident rate.
Q4 Performance: Finishing Strong
CFO Todd Leombruno highlighted a powerful fourth quarter, characterized by record-breaking sales, net income, and margins. Quarterly sales rose 10% year-over-year, bolstered by 8% organic growth and a 1.5% contribution from the acquisition of Curtis Instruments. The quarter saw adjusted segment operating margins climb to 28.0%—a new milestone for the company—while adjusted EPS jumped 21% to $9.27. Momentum remains robust, with orders up 19% on a three-month comparison and the total backlog hitting an all-time high of $12.8 billion.
Aerospace Dominance and Future Margin Targets
The aerospace sector continues to be a primary engine for Parker-Hannifin, recording its fourth consecutive year of double-digit organic growth. Q4 orders in the segment rose 18%, driven by strong demand in commercial original equipment (OEM), aftermarket services, and defense markets. Having cleared its 2029 margin targets early, the company has established an ambitious new goal: achieving a 30% adjusted segment operating margin by fiscal 2031.
Strategic Acquisitions and Capital Deployment
Fiscal 2026 saw over $15 billion in capital deployment. Following the $1 billion acquisition of Curtis Instruments, Parker-Hannifin is moving forward with major pending deals, including the Filtration Group Corporation and CIRCOR’s aerospace business. These acquisitions are designed to significantly bolster the company’s aftermarket presence and flight-critical technology portfolio. Despite these massive investments, the company successfully reduced its net debt-to-adjusted EBITDA ratio to 1.4 times, down from 1.7 times in the previous year.
Outlook for Fiscal 2027
Looking ahead, Parker-Hannifin has issued guidance for fiscal 2027, projecting reported and organic sales growth between 5.5% and 8.5%. The company anticipates adjusted EPS to grow by 8%, reaching approximately $34.75. Growth is expected across all major verticals, with aerospace projected to lead at 8.5% growth. Additionally, the company is leaning into the data center boom, noting that liquid-cooling systems and related components are becoming an increasingly vital part of its revenue stream.
To better reflect its evolution into a diversified industrial and aerospace powerhouse, Parker-Hannifin will transition to a rolling 12-month calculation for industrial order-rate reporting starting in fiscal 2027, a metric management believes better aligns with its long-term market exposure.
